Sextrance: Sexworld

Sextrance: Sexworld
Album cover for SEXTAPE VOL 1. It looks like a bootleg tape in a gas station sex pill package. There's dinosaurs on it. Text says "Sexcomp. Extra Long Lasting. Sextrance 2022. Maximum Gigachad Strength Formula." There's a pride flag in the top left corner with text that says "Made in idk what country this is but bitches from here be mad pretty."

By the time I hear about sextrance, it's worldwide. The whole underground is twitching and writhing through the bit crush haze at speeds in excess of 200 bpm, and I'm just caught in the wave.

The story of how I got here goes something like this. Gorge bootist Indus Bonze shared a Japanese-language blog post by a DJ named GBM, which led me back to the Philly-based collective GZ999, who released a sextrance compilation called SEXTAPE VOL 1 last summer. From there, a world. The world of sextrance: Sexworld.

I've been listening to faster music lately as a way to think about slower music. The way a drone becomes a beat becomes a drone. The way punctuation is silent at the end of a sentence. Sextrance is like this, so fast its slow. So hard its soft again. Supersaw dissolving against the threshold of a digital compressor. Maybe I'm fucked up but this kinda stuff really calms me down.
